After a successful trip a month ago in Rybnik Poland, Prague and Budapest, the Lyceum of Greek Women represented the city of Larissa and our country by exporting our tradition in Warsaw and Berlin, at another ten days trip for this summer. The Lyceum of Greek Women in Warsaw participated in dance festivals organized by the National Academy of the University of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture of Poland. All events took place in one of the most beautiful parks in Warsaw in an amazing stage where thousands of spectators watched. The other participating countries were: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Argentina, Russia, Albania, Indonesia, Turkey, Belgium. The group of the Lyceum of Greek Women presented a program of dances and songs with a constant rhythm and dance variations. In a highly contemporary scene, our dancers presented the Greek tradition through dances, songs, costumes in front of an enthusiastic crowd. With their dancing abilities, the imposing costumes and fast changing of melodies, dances and songs the members of the Lyceum of Greek Women impressed the capital of Poland.
The Lyceum of Greek Women excelled earning enthusiastic praise and public acclaim in Warsaw, which expressed its admiration for the Greek team.
At the end of the festival, the Director of the Academy of Dance of Poland Krzysztof Gasiorek congratulated the group saying it is a great dance team, which presented the tradition of Greece in a unique way and expressed his admiration for the costumes and jewelry of LEL. The group of the Lyceum of Greek Women was welcomed at the City Hall and the Governor House, by the mayor of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz - Waltz and governor Adam Struzik, respectively.
Even the representative of the Greek embassy Theodoros Xypolias attended the closing ceremony of the festival and watched the show of LEL. He, also, gave his congratulations for a great representation of our country in Warsaw.
A great honour for the Lyceum of Greek Women, which in every project demonstrates that works with respect and seriousness for the Greek tradition.
A unique experience for members of LEL was to participate in the parade at the main streets of Warsaw, particular in the old town. Thousands of Poles showed their admiration by participating and feeling the energy of our dance group.
The group during the journey to Poland to Warsaw and its surronding region, visited many sites and had the opportunity to see the birthplace of Fr. Chopin and M. Curie. The old city was very beautiful and the vast parks charmed the members of the LEL. On Monday 23 August, the dance team Lyceum of LEL continued its journey to Berlin, where they toured the major sights and enjoy a weekend at the German capital.
The dance team was escorted by the Board President Th. Zitonouli, members of wardrobe department E. Gkiomosi , A. Dimosiou, the General Secretary M. Papapouliou and of course the dance teacher Dimitris Tsiplakoulis.
